Reiki Master and Ecclectic Writer

Welcome

March 13, 2008

I certainly feel like I’m under construction right now. Serious renovations have been taking place in my interior landscape since September 2007. The universe has been putting in overtime with its sandpaper, chisels, and 2X4s (yes, bonked over the head when I refused to listen). The net result a new focus as an educator, Reiki teacher, and writer; three interconnected themes that run throughout my day-to-day life and throughout this website.

I teach preschool that mostly follows the “Progressive Education” philosophy. It is discovery- and play-based learning. We, as educators, provide the opportunities for the children to make their own discoveries about how the world works. My child attended this preschool for two years before graduating to kindergarten (to a wonderful school that also puts the child first). While he was a student, I tweaked my own parenting and communication techniques. This education style actually provided a framework and structure for what I was instinctively thinking and feeling in how I wanted to parent and how I wanted my child to be educated, but didn’t know the words or techniques to express it. I observed classes, spoke with the teachers, attended parent education events, read books and handouts, and incorporated this philosophy into my lifestyle. Now I teach three year olds at the same preschool and serve as the same resource for other parents. Look for a “Progressive” Parenting and Education topic with nuggets of information I’ve gleaned from the preschool.

Reiki is an energy healing technique that originated in Japan. It promotes self-healing through deep relaxation. It is not massage, but a gentle laying on of hands and the transfer of the healing energy of the universe through the practitioner to the client. It heals on an emotional, physical and/or spiritual level, depending. I teach Reiki and also provide Reiki healing sessions.

I love to write about Reiki, obviously, plus metaphysics, holistic stuff, book reviews, spirituality, and how it has affected me or how I can share what I’ve learned with you. I love to learn and I love to share what I’ve learned. Get me started on a topic I’m passionate about, and I won’t stop. Now, I don’t have to. I can put it all here.

I hope you enjoy this eclectic collection.

PS… This website is also undergoing massive changes. I’m aware that on some pages I’ve referenced other pages that aren’t up yet. Bear with me, they’re coming! I promise!
